Police car is prevented from entering neighbourhood by Green Party barricades
A council has been criticised after barricades introduced as a traffic calming measure have blocked residents off from access to emergency services.Bristol City Council claims theΒ blockades in Barton Hill, east Bristol, are anti-traffic and pollution measures but residents say they live in fear that they will be abandoned by police and ambulances.Streets in the small enclave have been turned in to one-way roads with large planters filled with flowers used to direct cars around a circuitous route. But new footage has revealed that these traffic measures have in fact stopped police, fire engines and paramedics responding to emergencies. In a video shared with MailOnline, a police car can be seen attempting to drive down the street before being blocked, having to perform a U-turn and find a different route to the houses, adding precious minutes on to the journey.
