Thousands forced to flee homes as Europe burns with uncontrollable wildfires

More than 1,400 people were forced to flee their homes in north-west Spain yesterday as wildfires spread fast, driven by blazing temperatures and fierce winds. Meanwhile, in Portugal, firefighters are struggling to contain a huge blaze they had initially declared contained. In Italy , wildfires have triggered a closure of Mount Vesuvius to tourists.
