Notting Hill Carnival bursts into colourful scenes as parade peacefully goes off

Notting Hill Carnival has kicked off peacefully today and filled west London with colourful celebrations. The world-famous street party, which is the largest in Europe, officially began on Sunday morning with dancers in bright costumes parading along the streets. Also in attendance was an army of black-clad police officers who are lining the streets after the festival has recently been linked with violence and disorder.
