The Daily Mail received a tip that second-hand phone shops in Ilford, east London, were buying stolen devices, fuelling a £20m crime epidemic in the capital.To investigate, a reporter posing a phone thief visited several stores in the area.The iPhones used in the investigation were purchased from a legitimate second-hand online retailer, but we used Apple technology to lock the devices and make them appear as if they were stolen.
