'Phone snatcher' pinned down by vigilantes as they demand he prove it's his

This is the dramatic moment a suspected phone snatcher was pinned to the floor at a London railway station by three people to stop him getting away. The man allegedly took someone's phone at Blackfriars last night but was caught by other passengers who pressed his body and legs against the platform. He denied any wrongdoing but was told 'don't run away' and 'open the phone to prove it's yours'. One person said: 'If you can't open it, we know it's not yours.' The man, speaking in broken English, also appeared to shout 'my leg, my leg' and 'it's broken' as he put his hands over his face while other passengers gathered around. The incident happened on the Thameslink platforms inside Blackfriars station where trains were still running despite the ongoing London Underground strike. Blackfriars, which is the only station to span the River Thames, has an annual footfall of 16million passengers and is connected to the Tube station underneath.
