Keir Starmer denies buying land for his parents' animal sanctuary using trust

Sir Keir Starmer today denied he bought a seven-acre field for his parents using a trust, in a move which would shield him from inheritance tax. The Prime Minister bought the land behind his parents' Surrey home for £20,000 in 1996 so his parents could create a donkey sanctuary. The Sunday Times reported he gave the land to his parents through a structure which meant when they died, the field's value was excluded from their estate. But the Prime Minister this morning insisted he merely brought the field to help his disabled mother care for animals.
