Britain's richest man tycoon Gopichand Hinduja passes away after long illness

Gopichand Hinduja, who became the UK's richest man after creating a global business empire with his three brothers, has died at the age of 85.The tycoon headed the Hinduja family, whose ownership of Indian conglomerate Hinduja Group gave them an estimated fortune of £35.3billion in 2024 - the largest sum ever recorded by the Sunday Times Rich List.Known as 'GP', Gopichand died yesterday following a long illness.His relatives said in a statement: 'He was humble and joyful, and a friend to everyone he met. He will leave a deep hole at the heart of our family. He will also be remembered for his formidable work.'Gopichand co-chaired the family business with his older brother Srichand, who died aged 87 in 2023.
