A released prisoner from HMP Wandsworth has said the prison 'needs help' as cases of inmates being mistakenly freed are happening with increasing frequency. Fraudster William 'Billy' Smith, 35, was wrongly released on Monday but returned to the scandal-hit jail today after a three-day manhunt. The fugitive was filmed stepping out of a white van and returning to HMP Wandsworth, where he smoked a cigarette and smiled at TV crews before strolling back into the prison gates to resume his 45-month sentence.
