Business Secretary denies manifesto breach after unfair dismissal U-turn

Business Secretary Peter Kyle has denied the government is breaking promises on workers' rights after a U-turn on giving people the right to claim unfair dismissal from day one of employment.Ministers have thrashed out a compromise behind the scenes that will see the TUC and Labour-supporting unions back the move.However, it is likely to provoke a backlash from some Labour MPs and is a blow to former deputy prime minister Angela Rayner who had championed the plan.
