Worker urinates in pen while working for firm that supplies the birds to Harrods

A turkey farm worker was filmed urinating in a pen while working for a company which supplies the birds to Harrods. Hockenhull Turkeys in Lincolnshire has been suspended from a food standards assurance scheme after it was accused of breaking animal welfare standards. The firm supplies turkeys to high-end stores and butchers to be sold during the Christmas period. Environmental activists secretly filmed workers at the facility throwing birds and one staff member urinating inside the pen. The footage, captured by Green Britain Foundation, also found workers not following biosecurity rules such as moving between sheds without changing their boots or using foot dips. A spokesperson for Hockenhull Turkeys said they were 'appalled' at the footage which they said 'does not represent the standards of animal husbandry and biosecurity' which the company expects.
