Travel chaos hits across Europe as European Union rolls out new border checks

Widespread disruption has been caused across European airports by the EU's strict new travel rules as a record Christmasgetaway begins for thousands of UK travellers. Processing times for passengers have escalated by 70 per cent for the new checks caused by the rollout of the EU's new entry and exit system (EES), the Airports Council International (ACI) in Brussels reported. It says three hour delays are being experienced at airports across the EU triggered by the delays.
