Two in hospital and locals evacuated after explosion destroys top-floor flat

Two men have been rushed to hospital following a blast in Roker, Sunderland after a suspected gas explosion at a residential property. A top floor flat on Whickham St has been badly damaged with the front blown off, and the roof partially collapsed.
