1962: First official panda crossing is unveiled in London Waterloo

On 2nd April 1962, the first official panda crossing was unveiled by the then Transport Minister Ernst Marples and the Mayor of Lambeth just outside Waterloo Station. They both were the first to cross it holding a small panda toy.
