Miguel Cruz detained by police after shooting of Dominican Republic minister

The Dominican Republic minister of the environment was shot to death in his office by a close friend Monday, the office of the president said in a statement. Authorities said Orlando Jorge Mera was shot by Miguel Cruz, who had been detained.
