Temperatures soar as 'long spell' of hot days begins for several parts of UK

The UK has begun to sizzle in a 'relatively long spell' of hot days and 'sticky' nights, as a heatwave begins for much of the country, according to the Met Office. It reached 28.5C in London, making the capital hotter than Los Angeles and Santorini.
