Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in Japan in 2011 left 450,000 people homeless

The Japanese earthquake with a 9.1 magnitude which had its epicenter in the Pacific Ocean lasted for 6 minutes causing a tsunami. This devastating earthquake killed more than 18,500 people becoming one of the most devastating natural disasters.
