Commons speaker rejects bid to overturn government cuts to overseas aid spending

Commons speaker Lindsay Hoyle rejected calls from backbenchers for a debate on government cuts to aid spending from 7% to 5% of GDP, stating however that he welcomed the government bringing forward a debate on the subject.
