Thunderstorms and hail fall on South East England in spite of the heatwave

Heavy showers hit counties in the South East of England this afternoon, with two inches of torrential rain and hailstones the size of bouncy balls. However, despite the brief respite, the heatwave is expected to continue across the UK.
