UK records pandemic high of 122,186 new Covid cases as Omicron is on the surge

A further 122,186 lab-confirmed Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the UK as of 9am on Thursday, official figures show. This is the highest daily total of lab-confirmed coronavirus cases since the pandemic began, as the Omicron variant spreads.
