Trump announces 10-day ceasefire in Lebanon

<p>President Donald Trump says <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2026/04/16/world/live-news/iran-war-trump-us-israel?post-id=cmo1n8trc000i3b6sd2qw90tq">a 10-day ceasefire</a> between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon will begin at 5 p.m. ET. A leading Hezbollah official said the group would <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2026/04/16/world/live-news/iran-war-trump-us-israel?post-id=cmo1pckwy0008356wbha5f0n7">abide by the agreement</a> if Israeli attacks stop, and Lebanon’s prime minister <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2026/04/16/world/live-news/iran-war-trump-us-israel?post-id=cmo1oj2pr0001356wnmrsam7u">welcomed the announcement</a>.
