Man dies after his car veers off the road and lands in a river in Ghent | VRT NWS: news

A 29-year-old man has died after his car ended up in the River Leie in the East Flemish city of Ghent. The accident happened at around 6 am on Sunday on a sharp bend on Nieuwebrugkaai. A police spokesman told journalists that the man was the sole occupant of the car and that no other vehicles were involved. Whether excess speed was a factor is currently being investigated.
