There’s been a striking surge in corona cases over the past week that has also been noticeable in Belgian hospitals. On average there are now 1,878 new cases each day. Hospitalisations stand at 60 a day but Steven Van Gucht, virologist at science health institute Sciensano, isn’t too worried about the prospect of a fresh wave as the holidays start.
