Merksplas hostage taker was out on bail | VRT NWS: news

A 44-year-old man arrested on Saturday after a hostage taking during which a 19-year-old man was killed had been previously released from custody on conditional bail. Early on Saturday morning the man forced his way into the home of his ex-partner in Merksplas (Antwerp Province). He attacked the four people that were present at the house, including his ex-partner. The young man that died is the 44-year-old’s ex-partner’s son.
