In an interview with the commercial broadcaster VTM, the Federal Interior Minister has said the recent increase in the number of violent incidents is likely to have come about due to panic among drug gangs. Annelies Verlinden (Flemish Christian democrat) went on to stress that the issue of drug related violence can only be addressed through cooperation between the various authorities and the agencies responsible for maintaining law and order.
