It’s clear soaring energy prices resulting from Russia’s further invasion of Ukraine will put a damper on fun this Christmas. Many, many Flemish municipalities will be cutting back on Christmas illuminations. The price surge is also a big blow to the aficionados of ice-skating: 16 of the 20 municipalities that responded to a VRT survey and which normally operate a Christmas ice rink are shelving the idea this year.
