The Belgian Defence Ministry is to provide 1,500 beds to house asylum seekers. The additional places should be available by December. In recent weeks there has been growing concern about a shortage of places for asylum seekers at reception centres here. The problem has become so acute that there have even been instances of families with children being forced to sleep on the streets as there were no places available at reception centres.
