Many thousands of police officers are staging a demonstration through the streets of Brussels today (Monday). One of the police officers’ demands is that stiffer penalties be issued to those that commit acts of violence against the police. Earlier this month a 29-year-old police officer died after being stabbed by a man in the Brussels municipality of Schaarbeek. His colleague was also stabbed and injured in the incident.
