April 2023 marks the 80th anniversary of the departure of the first cattle wagon carrying people that were interned at the Dossin Barracks in Mechelen to the Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz. 236 of the people inside managed to jump off the train and escape the horror and almost certain death they would have faced at the camp.
