The Moritz Bastion (Moritzbastei) - City of Leipzig
The Moritz Bastion was built between 1551 and 1554, and is named after Moritz, Elector of Saxony. The former fortification next to the University is the only preserved part of the medieval city fortification. From 1796 to 1834, there was the first undenominational citizen school.
