Detective Superintendent Joe O'Reilly, from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, reads a statement outside the Criminal Courts of Justice, Dublin, where eight men have been handed prison sentences for their roles in trying to smuggle cocaine worth over 157 million euro in the drug trafficking operation on the MV Matthew. The ship was intercepted and seized following a massive joint Defence Forces, garda and customs operation in September 2023.
