New rupture on the side of Mt. Etna creates spectacular orange lava flow down Europe's largest active volcano
The rupture occurred at about 3,000 meters (roughly 9,800 feet), and by Thursday afternoon the lava had descended to 2,900 meters, according to Giuseppe Amendolia, a member of the Alpine Guide team working on the volcanoβs southern side.
