Afghan migrant mourns relatives lost at sea as UN agency announces record numbers of migrant deaths

Ninety-four migrants, dozens of them children, lost their lives at sea on February 26, 2023 when their overcrowded boat was smashed to pieces on a sand bank in rough weather on Italy’s Calabrian coast.
