Fire destroys 8 buildings in downtown Prophetstown

PROPHETSTOWN, Ill. (AP) — An overnight fire in the northwest Illinois community of Prophetstown destroyed eight buildings in the city's downtown district, including one housing the town's historical society, and left several residents homeless, officials said Monday.
