South African ex-deputy president to head UN Women

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, South Africa's first female deputy president, was appointed by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday to head the U.N. agency promoting equality for women.
